September Sermon Series – Three Sermons on Three Psalms of Ascent St. Paul Lutheran Church

Overall Theme:  “A Sense of Community In Sunday Worship at St. Paul”

Tucked away in the Hebrew Psalter, the Book of Psalms,  is a section of Psalms (Psalms 120 through 134) called “Psalms of Ascents.”  These were Psalms sung by Hebrew pilgrims on their way up to worship in Jerusalem.  For our Sunday worship services in September, Pastor Don will take three of these Psalms of Ascent and offer three messages that point toward and promote the benefits of a “sense of community with fellow worshippers on Sunday mornings.”

Sunday, September 8, “A Sense of Community That Is Inviting     Psalm 133 – “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”

Sunday, September 15 – Guest Pastor – Pastor Jack Heck – conducting Sunday worship for Pastor

Don and Sandy who plan to be in Aurora, Colorado to meet a new grand-baby due to be born to Sergio and Andrea Loya Perez the first week in September.

Sunday, September 22, “A Sense of Community That Is Joyful       Psalm  126 “When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.  Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy.”

Sunday, September 29, “A Sense of Community That Says “Yes” To God        Psalm 120 –   “In my distress I cry to the Lord, that he may answer me: ‘Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.”
